Say hello to our latest styling project, Olsens Miami. The twin dwellings, aptly named ‘Olsens Miami’ are dual-town houses set in the leafy streets of Miami, Gold Coast. From the talented teams at Havendeen, Three Balls Red and Jayson Pate Design, Olsens Miami is a blend of considered design and effortless coastal living.

Kira & Kira were thrilled to style this mid-century modern inspired property, ready to hit the market, with every detail thoughtfully curated to compliment the architectural design.

We sat down with Lulu, Interior Stylist on the project to discuss the details of Olsens Miami, and her favourite aspects of the design.

What was the design brief for The Olsens Miami?

For this project, we were engaged to style one of the ‘twins’ in the dual-townhouse development Olsens Miami for a photoshoot commissioned by Builder-Developer Havendeen, Building Designer Jayson Pate, and Listing Agent John Reid. Captured by the ever-talented Kristian van der Beek, Olsens Miami showcases a Miami-inspired contemporary design that nods to mid-century architecture, brought to life with a sophisticated, earth-toned palette. Drawing on Miami’s vibrant arts scene and relaxed coastal ethos, we curated a selection of artworks for the main living area and incorporated mid-century elements in the furniture, all while maintaining a laidback, coastal aesthetic suited to the home’s location.

Colour can really set the tone for a space and this project sees a sophisticated, almost retro palette. Could you tell us a little about the inspiration behind the colour palette choices you made?

The finishes at Olsens Miami feature stunning dark walnut cabinetry paired with polished concrete floors. To complement this, I curated a moody, rich colour palette of deep greens, warm caramels, toffee hues, and berry tones. Walnut furniture was chosen over oak, while heavy linens and warm travertine stone added texture and depth. I chose a fenugreek-toned rug to anchor the lounge area, accompanied by the Poise Soft Arm Chair in a rich rust-red fabric and the punchy work of Claudio Kirac to tie it all together. One of the standout pieces in this project was the Solace Dining chair in walnut and stunning Alabama Kale green leather - the chairs really brought a retro mid-century vibe. Notably, no white pieces were used in this project - only warm, inviting tones throughout!

What was one piece you just couldn't go past placing into this project?

Oh this is a difficult question - I love all the pieces we had featured in this photo shoot! The two pieces of Art by Kara Rose Marshall, ‘Duke’ and ‘Swinger’ look amazing in the dining space, they set the tone for the styling of this project.

I also have to mention the Art ‘Samadi’ by Vynka Hallam which we featured in the kitchen area - it works so perfectly in this space.

If you had to pick a favourite room, which would it be?

If I had to choose a favourite room, it would have to be the dining area. The bespoke walnut dining table was hand-crafted by our very own Grason Kira and is a true standout piece in the project. It pairs perfectly with the Solace Dining Chairs in Walnut and Alabama Kale leather.

Our table centrepiece was a stunning vintage green ceramic vase by AndClay, complemented beautifully by two artworks from Kara Rose Marshall. To tie it all together, we added a variety of cushions by Bonnie and Neil’s latest range, which fit so perfectly! They brought in texture and warm tones that harmonised seamlessly with the feature art.

What are your favourite aspects of this project, and why?

My favourite aspects of this project include the outdoor entertaining space, which overlooks the pool and a lush green park with mature trees, creating a serene and inviting setting. We chose the Palisade range in olive for the outdoor furniture to complement the park's natural tones, creating a seamless connection between the interior and the surrounding green park.

Another highlight is the stunning box window on the second level, which frames the park view beautifully. We styled this space with our Troubadour chairs in walnut, creating a vignette that feels both warm and inviting.

I also have to mention the kitchen as another standout feature, with its textural walnut cabinetry offering a rich, warm wood grain that pairs effortlessly with greens, blacks, and warmer-toned accents. We added black counter stools and a sculptural green vase by AndClay for a sophisticated touch, while the open shelves are styled with a range of period-fitting pieces and a textured artwork by Bec Talbot.
